Landscape management
20-year landscape management plan of the Walkley Woodland Network
Landscape Management · Woodland Strategy · Adaptive Management · Ecological Succession

Objective
Landscape architecture extends beyond design into long-term stewardship. This project develops a 20-year adaptive woodland management framework that balances ecological restoration, community participation, and ongoing maintenance to improve biodiversity and visitor experience.

Challenge
How can phased management strengthen both ecological health and community ownership?

Result
After joining the volunteer session with Josh from the Friends of Philly Gardens and Sheffield City Council, I caught some photos to add to my landscape management visualization. Imagine giving this management plan to a volunteer or to a member of staff in the Parks Department and following these questions to ask myself: Are you clearly telling them what you want them to do and where? This is where the landscape management map can be invaluable.

Outcome
20-year management plan
Maintenance recommendations
Stewardship framework
Ecological restoration strategy
